Dream Date: Really Rosie.

Our dream date this week is a scrappy girl from Brooklyn with big, big dreams. Rosie, we salute you! Rosie, we believe you! Go forth and conquer, and tap your way across the Tappan Zee.

What We Love Today: First Knuckle Rings

One Freja Beha Erichsen, rockin' Catbird First Knuckle Rings.

This weekend, while working at the store, I was so happy to see how many lovely ladies were wearing, or buying, our signature First Knuckle Rings. About ten years ago (eep!) I bought a toe ring and started wearing it on my first knuckle and I haven't taken it off since. (Seriously.)

While others are now making versions of them, ours are the original and have been road-tested like no others. Also the fact that they are available in 14k gold means that you can just leave them on and not worry about them (aka lose them).

First Knuckle Rings: 14k Yellow Gold, $64  /  14k Rose Gold $64  /  Sterling Silver $28

Postcard from the studio.

I've been a bad blogger. I've missed you and I'll be back next week with some Dream Dates and Famous Lovers. In the meanwhile, have a cocktail, gaze upon the stars or the city lights, whichever suits you best.

This just seemed too obvious this week.  Because we love this place and Milton Glaser of course.

Lunch Lady: POWER LUNCH à la Gordon Gekko

You would never guess in a million years that a place with a cutesy name like Roebling Tea Room would serve an amazing Steak Tartare... but they do! It comes with fried chickpeas, Kewpie* and capers. And there's so much of it I had to ask for more bread.

Now, you obviously don't HAVE to eat it with bread but something about chowing down on raw meat with just a fork felt a little uncivilized (not that tearing through italian bread made me look any better). But hey, if you're feeling particularly ravenous just dig in- it's really good on it's own. And in my simple brain this dish (sans bread, duh) is the perfect cure to that Gluten Intolerance thing all of my friends are currently suffering from. BUT don't leave out the lemon! It makes everything ten times better.

*....so about that Kewpie thing- Kewpie is apparently a very popular brand of mayonnaise in Japan. It's made with egg yolks and all that and features a tiny red Kewpie Doll on the front- wings and all. Why?! Who knows. I did not know of this beloved product when I ordered my lunch so once the food arrived I sat there for a minute or two and tried to figure out what the hell on my plate was supposed to be a Kewpie. So, yeah. Turns out it's just mayo :)

Enjoy!!

How We Wear It: Necklaces

I can't stop thinking about necklaces and I really can't stop thinking about stacking piles of them around my neck (I quite literally put together a different stack daily that I am then convinced I absolutely need).

So, on this Tuesday afternoon I selfishly show you this gorgeous yet totally playful necklace stack - a tooth, diamonds and a set of initials, what else does a lady need?

Catbird Shark Tooth Necklace, $42. Blanca Monrós Gómez Monogram Necklace, $560. Satomi Kawakita Diamond Disc Necklace, $580.

xx coco.

So pretty.

Florence in the Shop

How can you not have a crush on Florence Welch?! A babe with knock out style, a killer voice and she knows how to stack up her fingers, we swoon. So needless to say, we were both proud and flattered that she stopped into Catbird during her New York visit this week.

Eyeing Collette Ishiyama's line, Florence snuck out of the shop with a few special pieces to add to her finger stacks and the brand new Lion Mane Necklace. Oh, and Florence, you sounded perfect on Good Morning America.

Lion Mane Necklace $175, Arrow Ring $42, Drip Earrings $110.

xx coco

Lunch Lady: I Try...

to not eat French Fries aaaall the time but it's just too hard. ESPECIALLY at Miller's Tavern. Best fries ever. Plus Mercury is in retrograde and my friend Steph has informed me that the next 3 weeks are going to suck- so, whatever I'm having fries... Anyway! I had barely taken three bites before I heard thunder outside so I packed everything up and guess who ate all of my fries... EVERYONE! Hahahah. They're just that good. I also ordered the Beet Salad which normally comes with fried Brussel Sprouts but they were out & the waitress/ bartender assured me that it would be just as delicious with green beans. She was absolutely right. It also has Goat Cheese and Pickled Onions in it. The perfect thing to order if you're in the mood for something a little briny and not too heavy.

Plus another great thing about this place is they have an amazing Brunch menu AND they have $1 Oysters every day!!

Two things everyone and their mother likes. Eat here.

And buy a decent umbrella- it will make you a very happy person later.

P.s. Here's a good Rainy Day song with an even better video ;-)

How We Wear It: Lizzie

I'd venture to say that Lizzie has four of the coolest stacked fingers I have ever seen. There isn't a metal, stone or texture that this gal doesn't wear and, as you can see, she wears them all effortlessly.

Index Finger: houses a Satomi Kawakita + Bittersweets New York Sandwich - closest to her knuckle she wears The Tiniest Diamond Ring, $230, by Satomi. Beneath that she is wearing two Bittersweets Famous Letter Rings, starting at $125, with The Tiniest Ruby Ring, $190 in between.

Center Finger: she wears the chain of her Finger Bracelet, $385, with a dreamy antique Emerald she received from her grandparents for her 16th birthday directly above, Blanca Monrós Gómez Seed Ring, $215, Katrina Lapenne Braid Ring, $33 in sterling silver, Twisted Stacker, $64, and a First Knuckle Ring, $64.

Ring Finger: Yayoi Forest Crossing Ring, $326 in store, Bittersweets Marquise Twig Ring with an Opal, $650, and a First Knuckle Ring, $64.

Pinky: Silver Chain Ring, on sale! $20.

I obviously also have to mention that her smiley face tattoo is totally the best.

What We Love Today: Dishes Lined in Gold (of course)

Why shouldn't you keep your bobby pins in a dish lined in gold? Seriously.

Also, as I witnessed this weekend, they make a great birthday gift for the gal who has it all. Right FB?? ;)

Jessica Hische x Moonrise Kingdom

We've been big fans of Jessica Hische ever since she ordered one of the coolest custom Caja Nameplace necklaces - being a letterer and illustrator having Typography dangling around your neck seems just right!

We've followed her talents ever since but Jessica topped herself in our books when she created the playfully perfect film titles for Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom. See her full story about the project here.

Caja Nameplace necklaces, $200 in sterling silver, $240 in vermeil.

Anatomy of a Stack: Summer Arm

Bracelets, we haven't forgotten about you.  The perfect arm stack for summer.

Lunch Lady: BUSY BIRD!

It's absolutely gorgeous outside and I've already had a handful of people ask me what I have planned for today (initially I thought about asking Ryan Gosling to make me a peanut butter sundae and answer all of my emails) BUUUUUUT sometimes a Bird's just gotta eat at her desk. And since my to-do list was/is longer than my arm- today was definitely one of those days.

So I turned to an old CB favorite and called up the babes over at M Shanghai for some Cucumber Salad (basically just a bunch of chopped up pickles floating in some kind of magical garlic vinegar something), Spicy Wontons that come in an amazing peanut sauce & Sesame Oil and Scallion Noodles. You could say that my lunch was pretty much a no-brainer since I've had it 3,000,000 times but having one less thing to think about was exactly what I needed today!

Last summer all Allison (our resident Graphic Design Sandpiper) would order was the Wonton Soup and to this day M Shanghai remains our #1 go-to lunch spot.

I would recommend you go there, close your eyes, point at the menu and feel at ease knowing that EVERYTHING is awesome.

Oh and they have a Vegan menu too ;-)

How We Wear It: Tina

Tina is our California babe, you can always find her with a smile on her face and as you can see, her hands are basically smiling on the daily from all the treats she stacks on them.

Lucky for Tina's hands, she inherited the beautiful opal flower from her mother and the gold flower from her aunt (wow-ee)!! She also wears a First Knuckle Ring, $64, on her ring finger with a Threadbare, $44, below. On her center finger she wears a Twisted Stacker, $64, on her top knuckle and two Tiny Chain Rings, $64, stacked with a First Knuckle Ring, $74 for sizes 5 and above.

Tina completes her hand's happiness with a teensy Threadbare, $44, as a thumb ring and a glittery Boom Boom Pow, $20, manicure.

xx coco.

Dream Date: Madison.

I'd set my crippling fear of fish aside for a manicure just like Madison's; pearly, rosy, shell-like nails are the cats pajamas. Or, rather, a mermaid's dream.

Bird Call: LB/P Wedding Playlist Part 1

In addition to our well documented love of sandwiches and stacking rings, lipstick and pastries, we're awfully keen on music. We inaugurate Bird Call (the sounds of Catbird) with Part 1 of Leigh's wedding mix.

Lunch Lady: Girl, you don't look a day over 30.

Dear America,

Happy Birthday Mama!!!

I know we've had our ups and downs this year so I just wanted to say...

Thank you for the amazing bacon cheeseburger from Jimmy's! It was crazy messy and I had to wash my hands five times, but it was absolutely worth it :-) Also, you have no idea how much I needed that star-spangled Bud Heavy. I owe you one.

And last but not least thank you one million times over for all the total babes I get to see every day.

Love,
Ash

p.s. You're responsible for this and I really dig that about you <3

Dream Date: The Ladies of Downton Abbey.

I spent a hot and hazy Friday night re-acquainting myself with the ladies of Downton Abbey. Fear not: they are still priggish, coy, clever, and altogether delightful company for an evening at home with a burrito and 16 lbs of pets.

What We Love Today: Spider Webs

In honor of the spider who bit me this weekend, I present these beautiful mounted spider webs. Rocky -  a true spider nerd! - combs the wilds of New Jersey and magically fixes these silver spun homes to black glass. No spiders are ever harmed. (He loves them way too much.)
-Rony
