I've lately been inspired, afar, by Annakim Violette. Prepared to be inspired, nearer, by some amazing butterfly jewelry flying our way.

swim with the fishes.

Bust out your rod & reel, grab a bucket o'worms and head over to...Williamsburg? That's right, it's Brooklyn's first ever fishing derby.

(Nice poster, fellas. "Brooklyn's biggest hooker". Ha!)

jive turkey.

We spotted some wild turkeys struttin' their wack stuff in front of a mental institution on Staten Island this weekend. Bien sur.

state birds.

I've always had a thing for state birds. The concept seems like it was concocted by a six year old. What's next? A state muffin? This print by Dutch Door Press is seriously calling to me.

My love for Maira Kalman is undying and true.

The Way we Work, Brooklyn edition

I was nosing around Enormous Champion's neck of the internet-woods, looking for some photos of the new tea towels we just received from them when I came across this shot of the designing couple's shared desk. Totally typical Brooklyn situation, except that their desk is located in their...dining room! I have NEVER seen a dining room in Brooklyn!

Labradorite, luminescence, light

katie diamond labradorite ring, $200

While writing copy for our shiny, new website (you're gonna love it! a billion times bigger than our current website!), I learned about adularescence, the milky glow that occurs in stones like moonstones, opals, and labradorite when light falls between the finest of layers that make up the gems. I might have gotten that not entirely right, but you get the idea. Real life magic.

Unlimited Turkey.

Do you think the copywriter was fired or promoted?

We Love You So!

I just stumbled upon We Love You So, the official blog for Spike Jonze's Where the Wild Things Are. Turns out, they're fans of some of our favorites: Enormous Champion and Yellow Owl Workshop!

Robert Frank.

Looking In: Robert Frank's The Americans
9/22–1/3 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art

The uncannily named Frank saw America as only one not born here could. Now showing at The Met. I also highly recommend this article by the never-disappointing Anthony Lane.
Seda France candles, $29

I'll be unpacking our Seda France order this morning (always a delight- each slash of the box cutter releases the best smells), plucking out my personal favorite (hyacinth), then heading home to light it up while I continue to reorganize my apartment. I am a serious wild woman.

LFG card

The penultimate way for any Williamsburg lady to let her old man know they're going from 2 to 3.

rutti tutti fresh and fruity

a selection of our APAK notecards stock

I firmly believe these to be the CUTEST, SWEETEST notecards ever. They are so cute and sweet, from the moment I decided I was going to post them, I simply had to call this post "rutti tutti fresh and fruity." Late rent check? Slip your payment under your landlord's door in one of these and let's just see if he doesn't thank you.

no really. THIS is the best thrift store find ever.

Many moons ago, I believed this to be the best thrift store find ever. How silly.

When your three year old tells you they want to be a chicken for Halloween, and you come across the MOST AMAZING chicken costume in her size for $7...well, clearly this one was hit out of the ballpark.

images of John Derian's studio from 1st dibs style compass

Lucky you: we've got a whole bunch of John Derian on sale! This is a special situation- we went a little crazy with our last order from him, and we've got to make room in our diminutive shop for all his new (oldish) wares.

Vanity Post

Demitasse pie server necklace, $186 in sterling silver

While in Maine this weekend, I ate an entire hulking piece of mascarpone cheesecake with blueberries. Apparently, I channel a dessert eater once I cross into New England. As a rule, I hate cheesecake, and don't really like dessert. I think I deserve a diamond-flecked spoon necklace for my brave, sweet-tasting moment.

Salt to give it savour

If you are a regular reader of this here blog, you might be a little tired of me pushing these wee little bird boxes on you. BUT, a brilliant customer yesterday reminded me that salt is a traditional good tiding to bring to a new home, AND since we New Yorkers do tend to move house so often, at $19 plus the cost of some salt (which you've probably got a ton of left behind by sundry and assorted roommates) you have the pleasure of being a most sweet and thoughtful friend. We'll gladly provide the silk ribbon for you to tie around birdie's belly.

On repeat.

Teepee as muse

Bittersweets Teepee bracelet, $325

My sweet pup, Teepee, was the inspiration for this amazingly delicate, gorgeous Bittersweets bracelet. Teepee and the bracelet share the same diminutive proportions and golden color. Teepee barks, the bracelet quietly swings.

on the rocks.
