What We're Giving: Courtnay

Courtnay picks our sparkly and special gifts for her Grandma, sister and mom!

1. For my lovely gramamma, Yiye, Isa's Restoratives Lilac Rouge, $22.00, some of Catbird's Travel Candles, $12.00, for her porch (especially when the Southern Spring comes back) and finally, the Up in The Air Gold Bottom Dish, $42.00, so she can stow her finger's worth of amazing rings.

2. For my ever picky (yet classy as a mofo) younger sister, it's a grab bag of the Gold Sparkler Star Bobby Pin, $18.00, Roberts Florentine Rosewater, $10.00, and Deborah Lippmann's Cleopatra in New York, $16.00, a representation of her ever-evolving commitment to simple beauty.

3. I'd love to give my amazing momma John Derian's Rose With Ant Plate, $48.00 - a lovely reminder for when winter has taken all the flowers away. Add onto that, a dedication to my mom's spirit, the Slip Into The Darkness Gift Set, $132.00 (perfect for the gothic Southern narrative embedded in our veins).

Holiday Scents

Our house line of candles has been getting some love around the web. Read what Into The Gloss and Closet Vanity have to say about it.

Campfire in particular makes a fantastic holiday scent. It's a bit unexpected (no pine! no cinnamon!), yet it's warm and earthy and super smokey. It's also a completely unisex scent, making it a great thing to stock up on for those extra gifts you always need.

Catbird Campfire Candle: Full Size $32 or Travel Tin $12

What We Love Today: Catbird Fleurs de Nuit candle

Tonight's a night for the heady scent of summer peaking, breaths before the fall.

Spotted, in the wilds of Williamsburg

My eyes were flicking about this photo, left right, up down, black white, etc, hungry for the textures and the light. And then, look there! In the foreground, glows a Catbird candle.

Tar Beach

This post is brought to you by the letter "ahhhhhh" and the song Mozambique, by the great topical songwriter, Bob Dylan. In lieu of the pool that we might have if we traded our beloved city for the suburbs we all came from, we offer you votive receptacles in swimming pool shades.

Sweet, like mead and mink

la-dolce-vita

Gucci is sponsoring the restoration of La Dolce Vita, and this morning I'm wondering if the vivacious Anita Ekberg would've smelled more like Tocca's Stella or Cleopatra when that little white kitten (or, Marcello) nuzzled in her neck. I'm going to mull it over today with our resident nose, Joanie, who, by the by, has been working her little nostrils into a heavenly fatigue, helping Rony with the Catbird signature candle line. It's coming, and it's going to be grand.
Seda France candles, $29

I'll be unpacking our Seda France order this morning (always a delight- each slash of the box cutter releases the best smells), plucking out my personal favorite (hyacinth), then heading home to light it up while I continue to reorganize my apartment. I am a serious wild woman.
