We've been waiting aaaaaaaages to have these magnifying glass necklaces back in stock. We love the super long chain, and the functionality of the magnifying glass. We also love the $24 price tag. Buy yourself 2 - who needs glasses?! Joking. Badly.

Sickish in bed, with Teepee keeping my toes toasty. Reading, resting, puttering around, and up popped a peek into The Cherry Blossom Girl's new apartment; white-washed, beautiful, restful, and featuring a salt cellar from our beloved Flotsam and Jetsam. Salt is a traditional house-warming gift and we think it's just divine to pair this one with some pink Himalayan sea salt. We also love receptacles that are wee and weird, and allow for the quick corralling of bits and bobs, for maximum mistaken impression of neatness.

Tuesday was a day for the joys of lower Manhattan. We visited the studios of Made Her Think, and then, in the shadow of the Bowery, we were lulled to pacific joy by the quiet of a line containing magnificent, refined, elegant jewels. We ordered, of course, and we are trembling to share with you. We had salads at Cafe Gitane and stopped at De Vera, an old favorite. Never have I ever, De Vera. What you do is magic incarnate.

Julie Nolan's astrology pieces are in the store and they are so, so good. She's working up new offers, just for us, based on a customer's brilliant idea: 2 constellations are available, for custom order only, on both the necklace and the cuff, for $80. Linda Goodman's Love Signs would be proud.
Julie Nolan cuffs and bracelets in store and online $50, necklaces in store and online shortly $50, 2 signs on a cuff online $80, or necklace with 2 signs available for special order $80 (email catbirdnyc@gmail.com to order necklaces until we have them online)

So we are back from a luxurious stint in the Caribbean. What do you think was the best part: A, B, C or D?
A. The flawless beach. |
B. The infinity pool, with a view of the flawless beach. |
C. The rainbow outside our porch, which was bigger than our apartment. |
D. The celebrity sighting to beat all sightings. |
I think the answer is fairly obvious.

Two new rings from the beloved Satomi Kawakita, that sparkle with with their own determination, for two very different, but equally beautiful girls. The starry night band is for the elegant dreamer, she who dips into astrology and Sartre equally. The circle eternity band is for the lady who accepts flaws and quirks as beauty, who loves her wildflowers in mason jars, who prepares her own tisanes and travels to the desert when spiritual pursuits call.
Starry Night Band $660 online (in store shortly), Circle Eternity Band online (in store shortly) $1760

Completely obsessed with these new astrological cuffs by the local and lovely Julie Nolan. We've had them for 2 days, and they are flying, for very obvious reasons, not limited to the $50 price tag. I covet the Aries bracelet for myself, and plan on giving them to all my special gals. Also would make a real great bridesmaid gift.

Our favorite little Liberace, she of the bejeweled fingers, Miss Elisa Solomon has restocked our shelves with a delicious array of St. Valentine worthy offerings. I'm particularly taken with her Love ring, which she's done up on 18k gold, smacked with diamonds, and kissed with a rose cut ruby. This ring has a sense of humor; I like a jewel that is beautiful and makes me laugh.

Thanks to our super lovely customer and superstar makeup artist, Amy, for pointing out this post on Tarte's blog, where she mentions her love for our fair store. I want to work with Wes Anderson and be a librarian, too! Until then, I'll watch continue to watch The Royal Tenenbaums and read books like there's no tomorrow.

Hello, I've missed you! I'm deep in the world of wedding planning- think glittery gold and patchwork lace, and some other secrets I'll share with you later. This photo from Scout Holiday has proved to be real pivotal. Ah, simple pleasures. Let's talk registries. I've always been staunchly opposed, but Rony convinced me that registries make it easier for your guests. I was lucky enough to have my best friend create a simple streamlined registry for me, that filled in all the holes in my kitchen, particularly. Except for counter tops and cabinet space, because tight quarters in New York's gift to us. And I'll take, cause New York, I love you. If you're pluckier than me, and want to get real creative with your registry, Merci is the thing to do. Lovely templates make for a beautiful and personal way to share your wants and loves with your guests. Done and done.
Happy Bruce Day.
