A friend of Robin's (of Bittersweets NY fame) found 5 pups in a bag by the side of the road. The rage civilized human beings feel towards animal abusers is countered by the divinity of Robin's friend who took these 5 wk old love babies into his home, and is taking care of all medical bills until they find happy homes. My happy home is already at capacity with a cat and a dog, but if you or someone you know is in the market for a new best friend, leave a comment here and we'll put you in touch with the litter's guardian angel.

The title of this entry is taken from one of my very favorite song lyrics.  I used to own a very junky pair of earrings that almost perfectly evoked this image, but Miss Vera Meat has just taken it to a whole new stratosphere with her ladder necklace, shown here in silver for $90, but don't you just know that the 14k gold version is calling my name, to the tune of $600 that I sadly cannot sing.  A sidenote: I just love that Vera is donating half the proceeds from this necklace to Jack Ladder's new album.  She's always building community, that one.

I've wised up; with my own mug the same cup of coffee is $1 (here, here to Verb for giving such a healthy incentive). I do have to nurture my coffee addiction, which requires refills, so my wallet is fatter, my trash output slimmer.

A few months ago, someone swiped a cashmere bonnet and bootie set from our baby shelf.  My first question: who steals?!  Honestly, the mind reels.  My second question: who steals baby goods?!  What terrible, terrible karma to pass along.  I mean, maybe in desperate times, necessities, but I feel certain that cashmere is not a necessity.  Moving right along, not only are these creatures sweet and adorable, they have been made by the same woman's collective in Bolivia for the past 12 years.  The production of the animals have helped to create "a health insurance plan, dental care plan, day care, excercise programs and micro loans in an effort to improve the conditions of its craftswomen. Since each item is knit by hand, the women are able to work at home while tending to their families."  Cashmere thief, are you out there?  It is not too late for redemption!
