Lorick, designed by Abigail Lorick. The line is jaw dropping. It has a timeless, elegant, sophisticated feel but with an unmistakable edge. (The line has something to do with Gossip Girl but I am not sure what, as I am over the age of 30. I think I am actually not allowed to watch it.) My favorite dress makes me think of Mad Men. Maybe something Betty Draper would wear to a cocktail party.

(The Internerd tells me this: Blair's mother's fashion line, Waldorf Designs, is in fact a real collection called Lorick designed by Abigail Lorick. So there ya go.)

So much new stuff just came in to both stores. So much. Of note, and perfectly timed for this dark month, is my favorite new find, Cloven Hoof, by Eminé Avanessian. Gilded scarabs, real human teeth (bought from a Medical School supplier), grouse feet (left overs from a farm in Indiana where they eat them), all rendered into beautifully creepy jewelry. Has the word "macabre" ever been more fitting?

Feel your spidey senses tingling? Must be this necklace that just came in from the reliably great Iwona Ludyga. (From Brooklyn, of course.) Spidey stud earrings and ring also in. Perfect for October. Or anytime.

I dare you to find a small, non-shoe store with a better shoe selection. I dare ya. This is just a smattering. Come in to both stores to see the whole shoe-bang. (These three styles are from Re-Mix Vintage Shoes. You know when you go to a thrift store and you find the PERFECT shoe - the one you have always pined for - but it is 3 sizes too small? Well, Re-Mix found all those perfect shoes and reproduced them in all sizes. Problem solved.)

My favorite new find just came in - Owly Shadow Puppets. Expertly handmade shadow puppets with moving parts! All you need is a sheet, some light and some imagination. Oh and hands. A super great gift for some cool and lucky kids. (Please note how the tooth fairy's skirt is decorated with teeth. Of course.)

fur real.

I got a bunch of emails this week from angry customers saying they would boycott catbird unless I stopped selling fur. The cuplrit? This awesome, locally handmade, reversible hat by Tsuyumi, made from wool and high quality FAKE fur. I think an employee may have told someone it was "faux rabbit" and that's where the confusion began. Anyway, just a note to all you concerned citizens, it is indeed fake fur. Thanks for your emails.

NOTE: I am still getting vitriolic emails about catbird selling fur. (Again - we do not sell fur.) We even put a note next to this hat in the window saying that it is fake. Can anyone fill me in on the source of the info?
