After some deliberation, we have decided not to carry shoes any longer. The stores are just too teeny and there are just too many new things we want to try. So, you might want to hop to and take advantage of this situation, toot SWEET. There is still a great selection as we just got a bunch of new shipments and we made this decision like 10 minutes ago. Ready...GO!
(The only exception is the shearling Sven's, which we have carried for over 4 years and will continue to carry.)
a pic of some styles, to give you a taste:

I came across this site while innocently looking for a cake stand. The work is amazing. It's also one stop shopping for your absinthe fountain needs. Or perhaps you are in the market for a glass spinning wheel.

brand new at catbird only. lower case alphabet studs (and one li'l heart), sold individually in silver or 14k gold. they are teeny tiny, and, most importantly, all lower case. (ee cummings fan here.)
i've been working on them for a while with the help of the awesomely talented max steiner and maggie stevenson. people are diggin' them and we are pleased as punch. (we think they make nicely personalized gifts.)
now available on line as well as at the bedford location.
(new feature: if you live in new york and you want to save on shipping - or maybe you need an excuse to come visit us - you can order on line and pick up at either store!)

Here is just a tiny teaser taste of the new stuff from Mink Pink, our favorite new line out of Australia. (Which, by the way, looks like the most annoying movie ever, if you ask me.)
The jacket? Ziggy Stardust makes out, okay shakes hands with, a young-ish Michael Jackson. $86. The dress? Lady Chatterly makes a Very Special Appearance on Dallas. $80. And I swear - no one will ever know. Unless you tell them - which you should.
(These items, already at the MOST recession-busting prices, are still on sale thru this weekend.)

Former catbird employee, Melanie Cohen, is doing some fine work with glamorous headgear. Now that winter is upon us, she is showing us her chops again - this time in glamour AND coziness. Assorted options are now at the Bedford store. (Arden Wohl, known for putting a thing or two on her head, picked one up this weekend at Catbird.)
Also great for Meryl Streep fans, such as myself.

This is apropro of nothing, except who couldn't use a good laugh? It is perhaps the funniest thing I have ever read on the Information Superhighway. Everyone I recommended it to agreed, so you should hop to. Remember, laughter adds...what is it...7 minutes to your life? That should give you enough tim to thank me later.
sale still goin strong!

I got me a fancy new camera and I had the lovely Bedford store model for me. Here are some new things in the store right now:
We are proud to be Blue. And hope to be prouder tomorrow.
Card by the La Familia Green.
BillyKirk bags. Hand crafted by Amish craftsmen and women.
As I have said before, we have a LOT of cashmere.
Leather pouches that attach to your belt.
Look at these great rings by Kimberlin Brown.
Super special, gorgeous Afghani necklace. Unlike anything else in the store.

Williamsburg gets pretty festive for All Hallow's Eve. Here are some of the cute trick or treaters that came a'knockin. Thanks to Leigh for the pics.

It's kind of hard to explain how great this new find is. Little leather pouches (about 4" x 5") with loops in the back to attach to your belt, (or your bike as Deirdre astutely pointed out). These babies are not messin' around. The brass hardware is old-timey, the leather is Grade A, the stitching top notch. Excellent when going for an intrepid explorer look.
A gorgeous assortment of styles and colors arrived at the Bedford location today. Along with more cozy, cashmere, cold-weather gear you could possibly imagine.
