Dear Maira Kalman,

My love for Maira Kalman is well documented. I almost wept when I missed her at my local bookstore. I really had to control myself when we happened upon her new line of cards. Play it cool Rony...play it cool. (I totally did NOT play it cool.) Now they are here for us all to amuse ourselves and enjoy. 

The above is my favorite, although I must disagree. I love a Deluxe Grilled Cheese.

Goodnight stars, goodnight air

I guess living in a city the night sky is fairly nonexistent star wise, so to make up for it I cut them out from pieces of paper. I've always seen the night sky as this big black curtain and the stars are just holes in it. -Rob Ryan, from an interview with AnOther Magazine

When I saw Rob Ryan's Stars Shining card I instantly thought of a star nimbus slightly askew, and of Cecil Beaton's Miss Nancy Beaton as a Shooting Star. I'm taken with the star motif played out in this English morning rose, madcap Zuleika Dobson sort of way.
