Have you heard the new Chelsea Wolfe album? If you haven't, you should. True to her nature, Pain is Beauty is dreamy, dark, and hauntingly beautiful. Get out your tarot deck, light some candles, and listen along below:

I am a perfume commitment-phobe. I have never even come CLOSE to finishing a bottle. I mean not even a tiny bit. The second I bring one home, I get all wishy washy about it. I have maybe 6 or 7 perfumes at home, each one looking about as full as the day I bought it. But then... I met Nova Chakra. Maybe it's the deep, sexy, mysterious scent. Maybe it's the really easy roll-on (I am a little spazzy with sprays and use them the same way I did when I was 13 - spray in front of me, shut my eyes really tight, and run through the mist - an ill-advised method in my tiny bathroom). This may just be the first perfume I ever finish.

There's something about stormy weather that makes me want to curl up in my bed, sip some tea, and listen to Neil Young. Seeing as there's no bed or tea at the store, I'm happy to settle for just the listening to Neil part.
You can listen along with us here:
Also, can we all just agree right now that Neil Young has some wicked style? I really want to steal this jacket.

I was pretty thrilled to see our Threadbare Rings on Garance Doré's beautiful blog. She seems to me to be a person who takes herself seriously, but not too much - maybe just the right amount - and her grace and easy style are an inspiration. Plus that's a really nice nail color.

September has indeed arrived, and visions of hot cider and oversized sweaters have begun to fill our heads. It's a dreamy, nostalgic time as we transition from summer days at the beach to cozy evenings fireside. The soothing sounds of Portland-based dream-pop band Blouse seem like the perfect soundtrack.
Check out one of my favorite tracks by them below:

Stories from the Shop

Here at the shop, we all squealed when the Catbird Ballerina Collection hit the shelves. A few of us might have even tried some pieces on and twirled around the store a few times. But when a couple of real life Russian ballerinas came into the shop to scoop up their own Ballerina Earrings, it was my heart that did the twirling. Dreams do come true.

Turns out Chicago IS my kind of town.

By a series of strange coincidences, FOUR of us birds were in Chicago this weekend. Here are some highlights from my trip.
Mario's Lemonade: SUPER delicious. AND we saw the Reverend Jesse Jackson there AND we ran into Mario himself who started the business when he was SIX YEARS OLD! He gave us a history of the neighborhood, including juicy details of many local characters. Was YOUR babysitter a hit man? What a coincidence. Mine neither.
Muddy Waters' house is for sale. We took a picture of his awesome doors.
We went to a Cubs' game, where they predictably lost after blowing a lead. We contemplated hot dogs...
What a great city. Thumbs up!

There were a lot of Quinceanera's going on around the lake, every dress bigger and brighter than the next.

...and ate them.
